Thank you to everyone who came to the Everest Awakening gathering at City Winery. We raised $21,000, split between a small handful of organizations who are working so hard every day on the ground in areas hit hard by the earthquake, some that have very little access to cities. The concert was a beautiful gathering, filled with love for the Himalaya. We had 11 performers, which included musicians, singers, and poets, as well as our dear friend Tara Lobsang who did a live painting during the duration of the concert. We auctioned his painting near the end of the program, which was generously won for $4500, all proceeds also going to earthquake relief. It was a day of hope. Please continue to send your love, prayers, and support to the Himalayan region. They will need help rebuilding for a long while.

Today our dear friend Raju Lama flew to Nepal after a small European tour, to visit his hometown in the Sindhupalchowk district. He will be bringing supplies as well as donations, and visiting his family there. He has been working so hard collecting monetary donations through many fundraising efforts, and holding Nepal in his heart and at the forefront of his mind with every daily action. We will be sending him a package filled with solar powered lights and other supplies. If you have any supplies to send or would like to contribute to this package, please send us a message on the contact page. You can also continue to donate to his fundraising page here: http://www.gofundme.com/rajulama
Our friend Tenzin Choegyal has performed 11 fundraising concerts throughout Australia, raising many funds for earthquake relief.
Our friend and brilliant activist Tsechu Dolma flew back again to Nepal and has been working so hard on the ground there with her organization ACHA Himalayan Sisterhood. They are leading and collaborating on such an incredible range of relief projects. You can donate directly to their efforts here. Tsechu's Facebook page is a great resource for local and regional updates on earthquake relief and the situation in Nepal.
On May 24th, we played a live streamed concert with locals at the Glen Echo Town Hall in Maryland, which served as a fundraising effort for The Kevin Rohan Memorial Eco Foundation. Last updated June 15, the Foundation had erected 24 shelters, a health camp where 389 people got check ups, medication, and health tips, and the clinic is now fully running for anyone who needs medical support. They will be running another health camp, as well. So many incredible efforts from their volunteers that continue to expand every day.
There are many new songs which have been submitted for the Everest Awakening band camp page, including a birthday poem for His Holiness the Dalai Lama, and a new song we recorded before Raju Lama left for his European tour. We hope to create a physical compilation of all of these beautiful musical and poetic contributions. It was a beautiful and powerful experience to record a prayer for mother in the studio with Raju singing and Shyam Nepali on sarangi.
Many friends, artists, musicians, and people from all walks of life have offered to donate such a diverse array of incredible items for auction. We will be planning an online and live auction, along with another live event sometime in September. Please be in touch if you would like to participate in any way. More updates later in the summer.
Thank you to everyone who is working so hard to help the countries of the Himalayan region in their efforts to rebuild. Whether we are physically there on the ground helping with our hands, sending money and supplies, writing and reminding others that this is still happening, or sending prayers and good thoughts of strength, all of these efforts are beneficial. This part of the world will be rebuilding for a long while, and will continue to need a great deal of support from the rest of the world. We should also always remember and appreciate the beauty and richness of the Himalayan culture, with its food, music, art, writings, landscapes, history, and learn more about the unique wonder of these countries and people.
